The Old Georgetown Board has rejected a mural proposed by Eagle Bank, the same one that the Advisory Neighborhood commission found distasteful and voted against in June, The Georgtown Current reports.
A Dish contributor and her daughters were having dinner at Los Cuates (meaning "Buddies" or "Twins") at Wisconsin & Q St. ("the best Mexican restaurant in Georgetown," she says) when the skies opened up Thursday. Huge downpour, flooded streets, wind whipping up the trees. Then they stepped outside and, VOILA -- a perfect rainbow!
"Top Chef D.C." aired last night, so if you missed the winner you'll have to tune into Bravo TV. The Palm restaurant held a viewing party for fans of the show and the restaurant including D.C. Council Member Michael Brown (At-large), son of the late Ron Brown, Secretary of Commerce under President Clinton. Tommy Jacomo, The Palm's personality and executive director had this to say about D.C.'s top chef: "It's more secret than the Pentagon."
GM happened to notice this weekend that a couple small patches of asphalt on 29th st. have eroded away to reveal the wonderful cobblestones that lie beneath (alright, if you must be a stickler, they’re really called Belgian blocks or setts, but let’s not get hung up on that).
Over the 4th of July I was in Manassas with family watching the fireworks. I could not help to notice that there were others at the same event tweeting about their experience in old town Manassas. One particular twwet caught my attention. Derrison Steer, also know as @OSUscooterGRAD on Twitter, mentioned that he was going to post a video comparing the Manassas fireworks to the Fairfax Fireworks. I asked him to send me a link and I would post the video here on LinkingDC.com. Thank you Derrison for sharing this video!
